Peter Norvig on Programming Languages

[Programming] language choice is not as important as all the other choices: if you have the right overall architecture, the right team of programmers, the right development process that allows for rapid development with continuous improvement, then many languages will work for you; if you don’t have those things you’re in trouble regardless of your language choice.

Flash and HTML 5

Interesting, I wonder what sort of stuffs that can be done using these two tech together.

Nice quote from Taken..

“Listen, I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills - skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughters go now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”

Good luck.

Snakeoil

Reminds me of the brief history of medicine.

Heres the history of our medicine.

“I have a sore throat.”

2000 BC : “eat this root”

1200 AD : “That root is heathen, say this prayer.”

1500 AD : “That prayer is superstition, drink this elixir.”

1800 AD : “That elixir is snake oil, Take this pill.”

1900 AD : “That pill is ineffective, Take this antibiotic.”

2000 AD : “That antibiotic is artificial, Here why dont you eat this root.”
